Pricing Policy

  • All goods offered for sale through our website are priced in pound sterling (£)
  • All prices shown on our website include VAT at a rate of 20% where applicable.
  • Customs and import duties are not included. The customer is responsible for payment of any surcharges. It is the customer's responsibility to ascertain any such charges.
  • We accept payment by Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, debit, credit cards and Paypal. We also offer customers based in the UK the facility to buy from us using interest free credit. Click HERE for full details.
  • Prices do not include postage and packing. Delivery to anywhere in mainland United Kingdom is FREE, including deliveries to Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands.
  • All of the products we sell are produced in strictly limited quantities and are liable to sell out at any time. If an order is placed for an item that is no longer available a full refund will be given.
  • We aim to have every product priced correctly on the website. However in the rare event of a product being incorrectly priced we reserve the right to withdraw the item from sale at the incorrect price.

Framed Items

Pictures are framed in our on site workshop. We will frame the pictures in the frame illustrated on the website,  occasionally we may have to substitute an alternative frame due to the unavailability of the frame moulding illustrated. If we substitute, we will contact the customer first. For safety reasons, we will use "Artscreen Plus" acrylic glazing where required.

How to Order

We have tried to make the order process as easy as possible for our customers. When you have decided which piece of art you wish to order, first check the "Select Options" drop down if available to choose whether you want to purchase the picture framed or unframed - options available vary depending on the piece of artwork selected. Once you are happy with your selection, click the "Add To Basket" button. You will then be taken to the shopping basket, if you wish to buy more items, click the continue shopping link. If you have a coupon code, add it to the appropriate box then click the green button below the enter code box for the code to become effective. When your basket is complete, click the "checkout" button. If you wish to take an item out of your shopping basket, click the "delete" icon to the right hand side of the product details (a shopping basket with a red circle).

On the next page, if you are a returning customer, enter your email address and password, if you are a new customer, click the "New Customer" button. As you new customer you will then be taken to a page to add your Name and address details, and whether you would like to join our newsletter mailing list. You will also have the option of opening an account with a password to enable quicker ordering should you wish to order in the future. When all the information is complete, click the "Submit and Continue" Button. Once our system knows the delivery address, the prices will be adjusted accordingly - removal of UK Sales Tax (VAT) if the purchase is being delivered outside the EU and the addition of carriage charges (see below) if the delivery is outside the UK.

If an error is made during entering your details, the page will let you know what the problem is to enable you to correct the error before moving forwards. We aim to dispatch all orders as quickly as possible after the order has been placed.

You will then be taken to the payment pages, hosted by Sagepay, who are a secure payment processing company. You will then be taken through their process to choose your payment method. You can pay by most major credit or debit cards or  Paypal. If you would like to pay using our Interest Free Credit facilities please contact the gallery to arrange.

Order details are kept on our website database, once an order has been placed, you will be sent an email with the confirmation of the order and a link to the order details on the website. You are able to log onto our website, access your account and see a full order history at any time.

As most products that we sell are limited to a finite quantity, there may be an occasion when a product that is ordered is no longer available. In this instance you will be notified and a full refund given. In addition to the automatic email sent from our website, you will also receive a personally written email to confirm the order and delivery day.

The language used in all aspects of our website is UK English.

Cancellation of Order

 We aim to dispatch all orders as quickly as possible after the order has been placed. Should you wish to cancel the order, please email us at enquiries@originalartshop.co.uk or call us at the gallery on 01772 257770 as soon as possible. If the order is cancelled before it has been collected by our carrier you can cancel with no charges and a full refund will be given. If the order is cancelled after it has been dispatched, please see our returns procedure below.

We have tried to keep our shipping charges simple to understand. If you order a light, small item and the charge is lower than quoted above we will refund any overcharge. If you want the delivery to a difficult to reach location, such as a small island, then we reserve the right to charge carriage at what it will cost. We will let you know the cost before sending, and you will have the option to cancel the order and receive a full refund should you decide not to go ahead.

All confirmed orders will be despatched by courier within 1 to 3 working days if the item ordered is in stock.

  • If any delay occurs, you will be notified immediately. You will be given the option to arrange a convenient delivery date or to cancel the order with a full refund.
  • Once the order is confirmed, we shall contact you with an estimated delivery day. Please note that for purchasers outside the UK we cannot give a specific delivery date due to factors, such as customs, which are outside our control. However the purchase will be sent with an international shipper that will enable you to track the progress of the delivery.
  • Please advise us if the package has not been delivered  within 1 day of  the confirmed delivery day so that we can trace the parcel. Please be aware that packages being delivered overseas may take longer.


  • All orders are checked carefully before despatch. Occasionally, items may be damaged, defective or unacceptable and we will make every effort to rectify the situation.  
  •  We will do our very best to ensure full customer satisfaction.
  • If goods are delivered damaged in transit, please notify us immediately on receipt. Keep all the packaging material and we will arrange to have the goods uplifted at our own expense. If it is clear that the item has been damaged in delivery by the state of the parcel when it arrives, please do not sign for the package but refuse it as damaged. You will be given the option to have the item(s) replaced (if available) or to have a full refund.
  • Customers are free to return goods for any other reason within 14 days of receiving them. Goods returned that are not defective or faulty must be returned to us at your own cost, with the goods being insured against damage or loss. This does not affect your statutory rights.
  • Please note that as we were originally part of a national franchise, there are several Original Art Shops around the UK, in Colchester, Hanley, Trentham Gardens, Stoke on Trent, Derby and Truro in addition to us in Preston. We now all operate independantly.

Law and Jurisdiction

The contract shall be deemed to be made in England. All contracts made between The Original Art Shop Preston Ltd and the customer shall be governed by the laws of England and any dispute arising therein shall be subject to the sole jurisdiction of English courts.

  • We will only use the information we collect about you lawfully - in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
  • The information we collect is to process your order and to provide you with the best possible service. 
  • None of the information supplied by you will be provided to anyone outside of The Original Art Shop
