The scene is set. Tables are empty apart from one, which is adorned with just the necessities - two glasses and a bottle of the finest wine you care to imagine. The title sings of nostalgia, of intimate meetings where first kisses were nervously stolen in the hazy bloom of night time anticipation. This is an important place which echoes with youthful dreams and romantic fervour; a place worth revisiting. The eye contact between the couple expresses the whole point of the painting; the intensity and focus of their gaze exemplifies why they are here.
