I try not to plan the subject or content of my pieces too far in advance. I hope to naturally find inspiration and meaning from each piece I create, where each piece leads me spontaneously onto something new. The harbour scenes that have recently become so popular are an example of one thing leading to another; as this current piece expands on them, with the addition of a lighthouse. As fans of my work will know, the art of storytelling and providing a meaning or subtext to my work is very important to me; in this new image I see the lighthouse not only as a protector, warning of possible danger, but can also be viewed as a beacon of hope for the world.
